EcoRise Pioneers Green Packaging R & D Amid EU's Stringent Environmental Regulations

2025-04-07

The EU's "Regulation on Packaging and Packaging Waste" (PPWR), which took effect in January 2024, has sent shockwaves through the global packaging industry. This far-reaching regulation enforces strict requirements for packaging materials. It mandates that all packaging materials must have a 25% bio-based content, the proportion of recycled materials in plastic packaging must be increased to 45%, and the wet strength of paper products must meet the criteria of the EN ISO 12625 - 5 test. Moreover, products with PE coatings are clearly labeled as "pseudo - eco - friendly", and any excessive ink migration will trigger serious food-contact warnings.

As a leading company in the paper products industry, EcoRise has long been committed to innovation and environmental responsibility. With a strong track record in developing eco-friendly paper packaging materials, especially Glassine Paper, we were quick to respond to these new regulations. Our R & D team, composed of industry-leading experts and highly skilled researchers, immediately launched an in-depth R & D project.

We are leveraging our proprietary technologies and years of experience to develop products that not only meet the EU's stringent standards but also stand out in the highly competitive European market. By integrating advanced bio-based materials and innovative manufacturing processes, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint significantly while maintaining the high-quality standards our customers expect.

In the coming months, we plan to pilot a series of new production processes and materials. These initiatives are part of our broader commitment to sustainable development, allowing us to offer our customers more high-quality, eco-friendly paper product solutions. We believe that by working closely with our customers and partners, we can jointly address global environmental challenges and contribute to a more sustainable future.
